Unrelated Reasons to Eat Good Food

Our friends who live in Australia came to town and thought we were important enough to incorporate us into their jam packed itinerary!! When you live continents away from friends and family, 2 weeks isn't much time to see everyone and do everything, so we were honored to have them over for wings, french fries, brownies, and beer.

Patrick and Charlie go way back, but him and Rochelle moved to the land of Down Under right before our wedding, so we've watched these little ones grow up over the last 5 years via Skype. This was our very first time to actually meet the youngest, Kai, in person, and you can't tell from this picture, but they have kid # 4 on the way!!!
Don't mind my super market feet...........I swear I clean my floor more than every 5 months.
Now, for the unrelated good food.........
I've heard about Twisted Root for a long long time. We even had one within walking distance from us a couple of years ago, but we just never made it there. How could we resist their marketing??? "Great Burgers, Bad Service, Cold Beer, Get Yer Butt In Here"
I loved the sticker on the margarita machine, "Eat Well, Stay Fit, Die Anyway". And the saying posted in the bathroom, "We used to have Chuck Norris toilet paper, but it wouldn't take crap from anyone." It was cute that instead of getting a number for our order identity, we got a piece of paper with the name of a celebrity on it. We laughed when we heard the sound of Chewbacca blaring through the microphone, but laughed even harder when no one showed up at the counter to claim their meal until the second, more literal announcement, a while later.............because apparently someone didn't know what Chewbacca sounded like.
The atmosphere was funky, the pickle bar scrumptious, the burgers big, juicy, and creative (apparently voted into the top 15 burgers in Texas)........but I was a bit taken back that a single burger was $9, not including a side or drink!..........Maybe that's because Guy from Diners Drive-ins and Dives gave it his seal of approval? Mine was I'd for sure go back, but next time I must remember to bring my ID (I see to be forgetting than thing a lot here lately) so I can enjoy some $1 happy hour PBR, and a friend to split a burger with!

Where's your favorite place to eat a burger?
